New Enhancements to Tracing Points

In its September/October 2019 issue, LabTalk magazine featured the ongoing collaboration between Frames Data and laboratory software provider, DVI:

Lenses may be the primary product for most optical lab facilities, but you can’t make eyewear without frames.

Now, frames will pose less of a challenge in the fabrication of finished eyeglasses—at least for users of Tracing Points, the database of frame shapes developed by LABTALK’s sister publication, Frames Data, and the lab management software system (LMS) built by Digital Vision Inc. (DVI).

The platform now includes Z-tilt and curve data for all of the frames in its database, which is updated automatically, on a weekly basis.

According to DVI software consultant Dan Lundberg, the latest enhancement to the platform allows DVI’s LMS to assist customer labs in the selection of a lens curve that will fit best into a wearer’s frame and provides all modern, three-dimensional edgers with all of the necessary information to finish lenses in a manner ideally suited for individual frame designs.

Eventually, he added, the enhanced Tracing Points will be able to offer frame fitting values, which are required to optimize the patient’s prescription on many of the digital lens designs.
